Some days there won't be a song in your heart.
Sing anyway.
Emory Austin
Langport Community Choir was founded in 2008 after funding was withdrawn for the Sing for Fun course run by Somerset County Council at Huish Episcopi School and Science College. Choir leader Pete Linnett, of The Natural Voice Practitioners Network, was persuaded to continue teaching them if they could raise the money to finance the project privately.
Gerald Fisher, one of the original choir members, decided after talking with other locals that a new community activity was needed for the area that everyone could get involved in, and he was helped by a £500 frontline grant from South Somerset District Council ward councillor, Roy Mills.
We are thrilled to have Pete Linnett as our MD. Pete is a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network.
Harmony songs from around the world are taught by ear so there is no need to read music and there are no auditions. The choir goes from strength to strength under his guidance and he knows instinctively what we’re capable of - better than we know ourselves, it would seem at times! The diverse range of songs keeps everything interesting and his boundless enthusiasm is catching!
We are building up an impressive repertoire. Our bookings to sing at local events are increasing as people discover who we are and what we do.
We have some video recordings of our performances in our Gallery.
Have a LISTEN here to some pieces that we have recently recorded in rehearsal and have a look at the EVENTS - past and future - in our calendar.

Cllr Mills who is district councillor member for Langport and Huish Episcopi said, "South Somerset district councillors each have a frontline grant budget to spend on activities or items that will benefit their wards and I felt that a choir could not be a more appropriate and worthy cause.”
The choir now has more than 60 members on its register, with between 30 to 40 amateur singers regularly practising on Monday evenings at Great Bow Wharf in Langport
